Weekend Results: Momentum Builds In The Lead Up To The Easter Holidays

Last weekend marks the the third biggest weekend of the year, and New Zealand’s best weekend in cinema in 10 weeks. 113,000 cinemagoers hit the big screen to catch some of the latest releases across the Thursday – Sunday period.

Two major blockbusters were released over the weekend period, including Sonic the Hedgehog 2 and Marvel’s Mobius. Sonic The Hedgehog 2 was largest contributor to the weekend crowds, bringing in 33,000 admissions.

Momentum is expected to continue as we head into the Easter holidays and beyond, with long awaited blockbuster films all releasing over the coming months : Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore, The Lost City, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, Top Gun: Maverick, Jurassic World: Dominion, Lightyear and Elvis.
