Your Blockbuster Guide to The Biggest Summer Of Cinema

We are being absolutely spoilt for choice this summer with epic content hitting the big screen in droves. It’s not a matter of what to see this summer, it’s a matter of what to see first!

The Matrix Resurrections

In cinemas Boxing Day

Red pill or blue pill? The choice is yours.

From visionary filmmaker Lana Wachowski comes The Matrix Resurrections, the long-awaited fourth film in the ground-breaking franchise that redefined a genre. The new film reunites original stars Keanu Reeves and Carrie-Anne Moss in the iconic roles they made famous, Neo and Trinity.

The latest trailer dropped this week, and whilst it hasn’t given us any further plot cues, it certainly has our brains ticking (and confirms Keanu still, in fact, has the Kung Fu moves.)

West Side Story

In cinemas Boxing Day

Do you wanna start World War III?

Iconic director Steven Spielberg helms this new adaption of the beloved 1957 Broadway musical. The story, based loosely on Romeo and Juliet, explores forbidden love and the rivalry between the Jets and the Sharks; two teenage street gangs of different ethnic backgrounds.

Rita Moreno, who played Anita in the 1961 version of the film makes a cameo, this time as Valentina, a re-imagining of the character of Doc, who saved Anita from being raped in his drugstore.

Sing 2

In cinemas Boxing Day

Dream big dreams.

Matthew McConaughey again leads this toe-tapping musical animated adventure, in the follow up to the 2016 smash hit, this time with the help of music megastars Pharrell, Halsey and Bono.

In this family crowd-pleaser, Buster Moon and his friends must persuade reclusive rock star Clay Calloway to join them for the opening of a new show at the Crystal Tower Theater in the glamorous Redshore City.

House of Gucci

In cinemas January 1

Father, Son and House of Gucci.

House of Gucci is inspired by the shocking true story of the family empire behind the Italian fashion house of Gucci. Spanning three decades of love, betrayal, decadence, revenge, and ultimately murder, we see what a name means, what it’s worth, and how far a family will go for control.

Lead, Lady Gaga said of Director Ridley Scott, "I've never had a better experience with a director. He loves artists, and some directors don't.”

Ghostbusters: Afterlife

In cinemas January 1

We’re ready to believe you.

Paul Rudd leads an all new cast in this sequel to 1989’s Ghostbusters II, with the iconic original cast also returning, including Bill Murray and Sigourney Weaver.

When a single mom and her two kids arrive in a small town, they begin to discover their connection to the original Ghostbusters and the secret legacy their grandfather left behind.

King Richard

In cinemas January 13

Venus and Serena gon’ shake up this world.

Starring Will Smith as Richard Williams — the famously tough-as-nails father and coach to tennis icons Venus and Serena Williams — King Richard is a tale of determination and unwavering parental love. Driven by his faith in his children, paired with a clear goal of success, Richard has aspirations to propel his daughters from the streets of Compton to tennis legends.

The latest trailer is soundtracked to an emotional original song titled "Be Alive” by Beyonce.
