Val Morgan Cinema has unveiled its latest campaign Big Just Got Bigger following a record-breaking run.

The campaign comes as Val Morgan Cinema experienced its biggest weekend audiences since January 2020, as 247,000 Kiwis raced to the cinemas. The stellar results were driven by the eagerly anticipated Marvel Studios superhero film Black Widow and the family favourite Space Jam: A New Legacy.

Last week’s results were backed with this weekend recording the second highest weekend since January 2020, with 179,000 admits, up a huge 24,000 admits on the prior weekend.

After a tumultuous 18 months, Kiwis continue to show increased eagerness to escape the house and get back to enjoying huge cultural moments on the biggest screen of them all.

And it’s not just Kiwi audiences seeing the attractiveness of the format – Cinema is in hot demand with advertisers too, with Val Morgan Cinema posting its second biggest booking week in history.

The results are the precursor to what is expected to be the biggest 12 months ever for Val Morgan. With double the blockbuster content locked into the half the time, cinema will continue to break audience records – Cinema is back and bigger than ever.

Speaking on the launch of the new campaign, Val Morgan Cinema Managing Director Guy Burbidge says with an unrivalled slate of big blockbuster content ahead, there is also no better time to engage with big youth audiences at the cinema.

“Cinema is now more valuable to brands than ever before, with hard-to-reach 18-39 audiences returning in droves after missing the exclusive content, the shared social experience and the attention of the big screen”.

Matt Tremain, Sales Director adds “Heroes, villains and heartthrobs are back on the big screen, shaping culture and creating memories that will last a lifetime. There is truly something for everyone - Cinema is the place where you can guarantee Kiwi audiences are going to be. With unrivalled first-run blockbuster content on its way, following some history-making cinema results, we foresee big things coming to cinema”.

With titles such as Shang Chi Legend of Ten Rings, No Time to Die, Eternals, Top Gun: Maverick, The Boss Baby 2, Venom: Let there be Carnage, Ghostbusters: Afterlife, House of Gucci, Dune, The Matrix 4, and Spider-Man: No Way Home coming to New Zealand’s biggest screens soon, there’s no disputing the big results that are yet to come.
