‘Hilarious, Raunchy and Unforgiving’, Say Hello to The Suicide Squad.
James Gunn is the first and only filmmaker to have directing credits on films in both the Marvel Cinematic Universe and the DC Extended Universe. Promising trailers and a star-studded cast have left fans reeling for The Suicide Squad, which comes wedged between Gunn’s Guardian of the Galaxy Vol. 2 and the forthcoming Vol. 3 in 2023.
Margot Robbie’s Harley Quinn returns for the third time in The Suicide Squad, accompanied by three of her 2016 co-stars, Viola Davis as agent Amanda Waller, Joel Kinnaman as the team’s handler Rick Flag and Jai Courtney as Aussie supervillain Captain Boomerang.
This time though, the ensemble is bolstered by the likes of John Cena as Peacemaker, Idris Elba as Bloodsport and none other than Sylvester Stallone as the voice behind King Shark.
As the embargo has lifted, it’s clear the film is destined for blockbuster success, with critics across the globe singing Gunn’s praises ahead of its global release. Here’s what they had to say:
Eric Goldman, Managing Director at Fandom
Brandon Davis, Producer of weekly MCU podcast, Phase Zero
Erik Davis, Managing Editor at Fandango

The Suicide Squad is in cinemas 5 August.
